MEET THE COMMITTEE

The Black-a-licious Coloured Ryeland flock started with a trip to Ludlow show & sale in 2012 to purchase a couple of ewe lambs to put with our small flock of Texel Charolais sheep. I bought a ram lamb instead – Bowland Sampras – who after buying a few ewes to put with him became the foundation of our flock. Now I just have Coloured Ryelands on the smallholding I run with my husband David and daughter Daisy.

We live on a smallholding near Burton on Trent in Staffordshire. We usually have ewe lambs and shearlings to sell, as well as 1 or 2 ram lambs or shearlings. The rest of the ram lambs go to the butcher and we sell meat boxes to local customers. We enjoy showing our lovely sheep and all the associated work, and also enjoy the social side too meeting such helpful devoted and funny sheep people! I am the organiser of the region's lamb show, held at Stafford showground each November in conjunction with the English Winter Fair, as well as Treasurer on the Committee.
